For many months, Professor E. I. Snov conducted his unique scientific research. Surprisingly, the subject of study was dreams. He reached profound conclusions in the field of somnology – the science of sleep, and was on the verge of a great discovery, but suddenly disappeared without a trace. His wife was extremely upset by the professor's disappearance, as she enjoyed helping him and everything was fine with them. It was... Until rumors began to circulate in the city: some believed that Snov did not disappear, but deliberately hid from prying eyes, which supposedly followed him all the time. Others – that his wife was to blame. Sometimes, chilling stories were heard, as if the professor had discovered too much and therefore disappeared. The researcher's house was emptied, no one dared to enter it anymore, it emanated unsolved mysteries and gloomy truths. Some townspeople, especially the scientist's neighbors, often had nightmares in which, as they later shared, the image of the professor appeared…
