On the night of April 26, 1986, an accident occurred at the Rostov Nuclear Power Plant, as a result of which the area around the station turned into an exclusion zone and was strictly guarded. After the sarcophagus was erected over the destroyed power unit, the operation of the nuclear power plant resumed. The presence of a powerful energy source and the absence of population allowed the government to create a complex of secret laboratories on the closed territory. In 2018, a second explosion occurred in the exclusion zone, after which mysterious phenomena began to be observed there: research expeditions disappeared, and the rare survivors of them talked about mutants appearing as a result of radiation exposure, possessing astonishing abilities. By 2020, according to various estimates, there were between one and three hundred unaccounted individuals in the exclusion zone who called themselves stalkers and were mainly involved in the search for so-called artifacts - anomalous formations with astonishing properties, for which you could get a decent amount of money. In 2021, despite the military cordons located around the perimeter, stalker activity gained momentum, although only the outskirts of the zone were explored: attempts to penetrate its center ended in failure. In 2022, a stalker known as Experienced began organizing expeditions to the zone for those who wanted to find artifacts.
