"The observer effect" states that observing a phenomenon changes the properties of that phenomenon. For a long time, your father had been a caretaker at the Time of the Season hotel. Every winter, he went to a secluded spot in the Colorado mountains to maintain order in the vacant walls of the hotel. Occasionally, you visited him, and each time he joyfully greeted you at the doorstep. Every time. But today, something changed. The hotel greeted you with stern silence. "Welcome to the Time of the Season hotel" - the porter greets you cheerfully from the cloakroom. You look him in the eyes and for some reason you understand that you have yet to ask the right questions and figure out why the hotel, still holding the sounds of your father's footsteps, has suddenly become empty. The main question is, will he let you go as easily as he let you in?
